World Youth Day 2008



World Youth Day is being celebrated in Sydney next week.

The Pope is visiting, and squillions of Catholic kids will be joining together to celebrate their faith.

Good on them.

What has pissed me, and a lot of people off, is that the NSW Government has slipped in changes to the law to make it possible for members of the public to be fined up to $5500!

And the crime for such a massive fine? "Causing annoyance" during July’s World Youth Day in Sydney. The laws “have the potential to make a crime of wearing a T-shirt with a message on it, undertaking a Chaser-style stunt, handing out condoms at protests, riding a skateboard or even playing music”.
